Chase Leads to Officer Involved Shooting in Georgetown County

An investigation is underway after a police chase in Georgetown County. Yesterday morning, the chase ended in a crash and an officer involved shooting. Authorities say a vehicle pursuit began by a Hemingway Police Department Officer in Williamsburg County led into Georgetown County and resulted in the crash and shooting. Deputies arrived after the incident to clear the scene at Choppee Road and Schoolhouse Road. According to Georgetown County Coroner Chase Ridgeway, the victim was identified as 26 year old Robert Langley of Folly Grove Road. Langley was taken to Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday at MUSC. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating.
