Three Displaced, 11 Units Damaged During Fire at Ocean Lakes Campground

Three people were displaced after a fire engulfed 11 units at the Ocean Lakes Campground yesterday. Firefighters were called to the 600 block of S. Kings Highway in Surfside Beach a little after 6 am and according to Horry County Fire Rescue Chief Joseph Tanner, the three-alarm fire was large enough to call 70 first-responders from the Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire Department, Surfside Beach Fire Department and the Horry County Police Department. Tanner said it could take weeks before officials know the cause. The American Red Cross is helping families who have been displaced by providing financial assistance for food, clothing, and shelter.
