Myrtle Beach Recognizes Woman’s Acts of Service with Dedication of Library Box.

Dr. Tracy Bailey founded the Freedom Readers, an afterschool and summer literacy program that serves Horry and Georgetown counties and also serves as CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of the Grand Strand.

Myrtle Beach is recognizing one woman’s acts of service with the dedication of a library box.  A new Little Free Library will be dedicated to Dr. Tracy Bailey by Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce (MBACC) and Leadership Grand Strand (LGS) today.  Dr. Tracy Bailey founded the Freedom Readers, an afterschool and summer literacy program that serves Horry and Georgetown counties and also serves as CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of the Grand Strand.  The Little Free Library is a public bookcase allowing members of the community to exchange books at no cost.  The library was constructed as part of a Leadership Grand Strand project using a toolbox belonging to Dr. Bailey’s father, who inspired her to read as a child, and wood from her hometown of Santee, S.C.  Bailey will be honored with the organization’s annual service award, the Ann DeBock Award, during the Ann DeBock Leadership Award Alumni Social on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach.
