Marlboro County Council Approves Raise for Sheriff’s Office Deputies
During a meeting Tuesday night, the Marlboro County Council approved a $2,400 annual increase in the base salary for it’s deputies. Interim Sheriff Larry McNeil asked council for the raise for his deputies and detention center officers. McNeil says staff shortages and old equipment is why the department needs more money. The increase is an effort to make salaries more competitive as well. The council also approved funding for a $2,000 sign on bonus to attract new deputies.
