Sentencing Underway for Three Men Convicted of Killing Ahmaud Arbery

The three could face the death penalty but prosecutors are requesting life in prison.

The three men who were convicted of killing Ahmaud Arbery returned to court this morning and their sentencing hearing is currently underway. 35 year old Travis McMichael, his father 88 year old Gregory McMichael and their neighbor 52 year old William ‘Roddie’ Bryan were convicted in November on a number of charges including felony murder in the 2020 death of 25 year old Arbery. Arbery’s family delivered statements aiming at a heavy sentence while the McMichaels’ and Bryan’s lawyers hope for shorter sentences. The three could face the death penalty but prosecutors are requesting life in prison.
