Johnson and Johnson Booster 85% Effective Against Omicron Hospitalizations

Two reports released today show that people who get a booster dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine are well protected against severe disease and hospitalization from the Omicron variant. Researchers say the findings indicate that most of the vaccines whether it be Moderna, Pfizer or Johnson and Johnson protect people against the worst outcomes of the infection. During a study in South Africa, vaccine effectiveness against hospitalization rose to 85% after a booster of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine and a lab-based study in the United States indicated the vaccine stimulates a strong immune response from T-cells which protect people against severe disease even if they don’t block the virus entirely from infecting the body.
