Myrtle Beach Police Officer to be Remembered During Annual Wreath-Laying Ceremony

A Myrtle Beach Police Officer who was shot and killed in the line of duty in 2002 will be remembered this afternoon during an annual wreath-laying ceremony. The ceremony will honor Private First Class Joe McGarry and will be held at 4 p.m. at the Officer Memorial Fountain outside of the Ted C. Collins Law Enforcement Center located on North Oak Street, the event will be streamed on the departments Facebook page for those unable to attend. McGarry was killed on December 29th, 2002 while trying to talk to a murder suspect at a Dunkin Donuts on North Kings Highway, Luzenski Allen Cottrell  was arrested in connection to the murder and sentenced to death.
