Democratic Congresswoman Carjacked at Gunpoint in Philadelphia

Five people are now in custody after carjacking a House Democrat at gunpoint. According to her spokeswoman, Representative Mary Gay Scanlon of Pennsylvania was held up in a park in Philadelphia yesterday afternoon after attending a meeting. While she was attempting to get into her vehicle, two armed men approached her and demanded the keys. Scanlon obliged and one drove off in her 2017 Acura MDX, while the other man followed close behind in a separate vehicle. Scanlon’s car was later located at a shopping center in Newark, Delaware, around 9 p.m. The five people found inside were all apprehended. Police confirmed the investigation is still ongoing with more details to come, but for now they are just relieved the congresswoman was unharmed during the robbery.
