Horry County Council Purchases Land Near Hwy 31 for Future Interchange
Council members approved the purchase on Friday and made the announcement yesterday.
The Horry County Council is set to spend upwards of one million dollars for land along Highway 31. Council members approved the purchase on Friday and made the announcement yesterday. The land, near Augusta Plantation and Revolutionary Way is nearly 24 acres. Councilman, Bill Howard, said the decision is about “protecting our future.” The interchange is expected to help alleviate congestion and improve traffic in the area. The county is working on selecting an engineering design firm for the project and they anticipate that to happen next month but, Howard says getting the money for the project is the next challenge that they could face for 10 to 20 years.
