Acts of Kindness That Will Make Your Day!
WFXB partners with Maguire Law Firm to bring you good from around the world to our backyards on Carolina A.M.
We’ve partnered with Maguire Law Firm to bring you good from around the world to our backyards from the Grand Strand to the Pee Dee. We begin with a one man’s touching act of kindness that honors his late wife by treating customers in line. Barry Peters and his son Davis drove to that Dunkin in Alexandria Virginia, to give back to the community in honor of the wife and mother that was taken suddenly with cardiac arrest. Dunkin was her favorite place. A sweet example of turning tragedy in a way to give back.
Brothers and sisters often fuss but they also carry unbreakable bonds. This act of kindness comes from a 16 year-old who used his coding skills to create an app for his nonverbal sister and then gifted it to the world for others to use! Archer’s sister Della has a rare genetic condition called Bainbridge-Ropers Syndrome that makes her unable to speak.. He wanted to be able to communicate with her. He searched for apps that might help if they either were too expensive or didn’t offer enough help. So he made one with his skills. Freespeech was born. INow his sister can string together sentences by pressing buttons. The result is an app that opens up a new world of communication. Archer made sure that it remains free for all to use.
This act of kindness comes from the Pee Dee. We found this story in a retirement community in Florence, at the Carolinian where we find the director Keesha McKnight. She noticed residents were using their bingo rewards to redeem for necessities like toothbrushes, deodorant instead of the more fun items like scarves and costume jewelry. She made it her mission to make their Christmases extra special by putting together a list of essential things and gift suggestions for them. She is sending the lists to friends and family. But even if it means coming out of her pocket, every resident will get a stocking. McKnight doesn’t know that we were doing this story spotlighting her kindness. She thought Audra was simply there to take a group picture of the residents for a Christmas card. You can find Carolinian Santa Bags list on Amazon by clicking here.
