From a Teen Helping a Local Animal Shelter to A Church Giving Back on Thanksgiving…These are Our Carolina Kindness Stories

Submit your positive stories to us and they may end up in our Carolina Kindness segment on Wednesday mornings!

A family knows the difference a little kindness can make.  Kevin, Suzanne along with their son Baxley have been traveling the country gifting wagons to children going through cancer treatments. Baxley was just 4 when he was diagnosed with a rare cancer. During this time Bax asked to ride through the hospital in a wagon instead of a wheelchair. Now the Baxley’s travel the country supporting others going through similar situations as they have faced. And they get their very own wagon full of their favorite things. They are nonprofit and funded by friends and family. They just finished their first year on the road and stopped by our studios to give us an update on their ventures.

Always good to hear of teens taking leadership roles and making a difference. Julianne Selph is an Eagle Scout here on The Grand Strand. For her scout project she went big! She decided she would help build a crate storage shed for the Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach. She’s collected donations and supplies. Lowe’s stores also donated some things. She is continuing to fundraise. She is starting today with what she has. and invites anyone who wants to help to go by the shelter on 48th Avenue North. She’ll be there after Thanksgiving on Monday as well.

A community in Murrells Inlet is putting in extra work this week so no one spends Thanksgiving alone. The idea started when this man was traveling in show business years ago and someone opened their home to him. It was an idea he and his wife continued until they needed more space for their vision. Fast forward, he is now the pastor of a church in Murrells Inlet where the congregation and other community members have come together to invite any and everyone to Thanksgiving.  So if you don’t have plans, join them Thursday, November 25th from noon to 3 p.m. at Low Country Community Church.
