Moderna Seeks Emergency Use Authorization

Moderna is seeking emergency use authorization to approve its COVID-19 booster vaccine for adults over 18 years-old.  The drug-maker filed their request yesterday and are hoping for approval of a 50 microgram dose, which is half of the 100 micrograms administered when patients receive their first two shots.  Last month, the agency authorized a Moderna booster dose for people aged 65 and older and certain other at-risk adults.  The FDA is expected to decide on authorizing booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine and possibly Moderna’s, ahead of an advisory meeting they’ll hold Friday.
