Day Two of Deliberations in Rittenhouse Trial Begins

Deliberations are entering day two for the Kyle Rittenhouse trial. Yesterday, the 12 person jury made up of five men and seven women deliberated on five felony charges for about 8.5 hours and asked two questions of the court which were to get extra copies of the case’s 36 page jury instructions. On Monday, defense attorneys filed a motion for mistrial with prejudice accusing the state of intentional ‘prosecutorial overreach.’ The motion is related to the prosecution’s line of questioning during Rittenhouse’s testimony and concerns about video evidence. Rittenhouse is charged with five felonies: first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless homicide, attempted first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety and could face a mandatory sentence of life in prison.
