SpaceX Crew Returns Home Following 6 Month Space Mission
The 4 astronauts that spent 6 months on the International Space Station splashed down on Earth last night in the Gulf of Mexico. Their journey began around 2 pm when the astronauts strapped into the Spacex Crew Dragon Capsule, detached from the Space Station and spent nine hours maneuvering through orbit as it approached Earth’s atmosphere, deployed it’s parachute and splashed down off the coast of Florida around 10:30pm. During their stay, NASA’s Shane Kimbrough and Megan McArthur, French astronaut Thomas Pesquet of the European Space Agency and Akihiko Hoshide from Japan oversaw several experiments, tested the first chile peppers grown in space and participated in space walks among other things.
