Ford Becomes First US Automaker to Mandate Vaccines

Ford has became the first US automaker to mandate vaccines among it’s workers. The company announced yesterday that it’s 32,000 US salaried employees will need be fully vaccinated by December 8th. Employees who refuse to do so and who do not have an approved religious or medical exemption will be put on paid leave for a maximum of 30 days and after that time, their job protection will expire. Ford’s previous policy was to encourage vaccines among its 88,000 employees but did not make them mandatory at that time. According to a spokesperson Ford employees that are represented by unions will not fall under the mandate due to federal and collective bargaining requirements which includes 56,000 United Auto Workers union members.
