Authorities Investigating Homicide in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach Police are investigating a homicide after 49 year old Patrick Smith of Marshville North Carolina died of a gunshot wound at a local hospital on Sunday morning. According to the Horry County Coroner’s Office the incident is believed to have happened along Shore Drive late Friday night or early Saturday morning. Law enforcement said they responded to the area because of an intoxicated male and when they arrived they found him lying on the sidewalk injured with a broken arm. Smith was intoxicated but responsive and told officers he thought he had been hit by a car. The Horry County Police Department is investigating.
