President Biden Heads to Capitol Hill to Meet With Democratic Lawmakers

President Biden delayed his departure to Europe for the G20 summit early this morning to take care of some business on Capitol Hill. At a closed door meeting with Democrats this morning, he pitched a multi-trillion dollar plan in an attempt to bring together progressives and moderates. The President laid out long-awaited details of his $1.75 trillion economic and climate package, tried to convince those who were skeptical and tried to get commitments from all 50 members of the Senate Democratic caucus to back his framework.

Democrats are also hoping the announcement of the framework will be enough to get those holding out to vote to pass a separate bipartisan infrastructure bill. The President departed the hour long meeting along side House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other aids and did not respond to questions from reporters.
