President Biden will depart Washington tomorrow and head to Rome for the group of 20 summit and his first stop will be in the Vatican City on Friday to meet with Pope Francis marking the fourth time the two have met. White House National Secretary Adviser Jake Sullivan said “they will have a chance just to reflect, each of them, on their view of what’s happening in the world, policy issues.” The pair are expected to discuss climate change, immigration and income inequality among other issues.
The president will also meet with French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday for the first time following Biden’s agreement to provide Australia with nuclear-powered submarines that shook the relationship between the longtime allies. Saturday and Sunday, he will attend G20 events and meet with other world leaders then head to Glasgow for COP26.
