Horry County Schools Math Teacher Charged With Felony DUI

A Horry County Schools math teacher has been charged with felony DUI after a two-car deadly crash on Carolina Forest Boulevard on Monday night. Authorities charged 52 year old Michael Oerther with felony driving under the influence resulting in death after the crash. He was given a $40,000 bond and was placed behind bars at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Oerther is on the staff at Ocean Bay Middle School and has been placed on administrative leave as of yesterday. The crash happened Monday night at 9:30 at Stafford Drive near the Horry County Memorial Library and the Carolina Forest Rec Center. The name of the person killed in the crash has not been released.
