SC Senator Hugh Leatherman in Hospice Care
90 year old South Carolina Senator Hugh Leatherman is in hospice care at home. His Chief of Staff Quentin Hawkins said “He has been in the hospital. He has been dealing with some serious health issues. He’s at home resting now. The family appreciates your prayers.” Leatherman is one of the longest serving lawmakers in the South Carolina General Assembly and has been in the South Carolina Senate for the past 40 years after being elected in 1981. He was elected President Pro Tempore on June 18, 2014, is member of the Francis Marion University Board of Trustees and is on the Clemson University College of Engineering & Science Advisory Board among other honors.
