How to Win at Fall Carnivals and Fairs

It takes some serious skill!

Tis the season for all those carnivals and fairs! If you are one that has always has your eye on the prize…on all those games we’ll show you which ones increase your odds of the big win. Most games are created to stack the odds against you and no matter your skill level, most are games of chance. You have a 1 in 10 chance with toss games… the balls are so light they are designed to bounce off the target. Also, sometimes the tables are slightly elevated so aim for the inside upper lip to decrease the ball’s bounce.

You have slightly lower chances of winning at the ring toss. The ring is generally only slightly bigger than the necks, any imperfect throw will make the ring bounce off of the bottle, nearly impossible! As for the milk bottles…they are usually weighted, making it harder to knock over. Aim for the center bottle on the bottom, to take them all out. go for accuracy over force.

You stand a better chance at the basketball game, but aim higher and longer. The ones at the carnivals are usually 4 inches further away and the goal is an inch higher. It’s slight differences that is not obvious and can really throw your game off, making it difficult for those relying on muscle memory.

The rope ladder is beatable with enough practice but is also extremely hard. The ladder is only secured by one point at either end. It requires the same balance as scaling a single line of rope. Avoid holding the rungs and instead use the outer ropes to climb. Move opposite limbs at the same time!
