House to Vote on Steve Bannon Criminal Contempt

The House committee investigating the Capitol riots approved holding Steve Bannon in contempt of Congress last night. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer announced that the full House will vote on the criminal contempt report tomorrow and following it’s passage it would then be referred to the Justice Department. The criminal contempt report was approved and moved to the House floor with no opposition from the committee members and marks a milestone in the investigation as the panel hopes it persuades more of Trumps allies to cooperate with the investigation.

Yesterday members of the committee blasted Bannon for refusing to cooperate with the probe and said he is ‘isolated’ in doing so as other witnesses are working with them. Lawmakers also formally declared Bannon should face criminal contempt charges while rejecting Bannon’s claim of executive privilege.
