The North Myrtle Beach City Council passed a first reading of two flooding-related ordinances.

The North Myrtle Beach City Council passed a first reading of two flooding-related ordinances.  One of those revises flood damage control standards that could minimize property damage and loss, as well as restricts use of a floodplain.   Violations are also listed as $500 fines and/or imprisonment. The other ordinance would adopt a revised flood insurance study and flood insurance maps issued by FEMA.  the maps are updated periodically to include updated data.
