Jon Gruden Removed from Tampa Bay Bucs Ring of Honor Following Resignation

Following his resignation from the Las Vegas Raiders, Jon Gruden has also been removed from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Ring of Honor. Gruden resigned after reports surfaced of him using homophobic, racist and misogynistic language in emails while he was employed as an ESPN analyst. He led the Bucs to the franchise’s first Super Bowl in 2002 but has been removed from the team’s Ring of Honor.

In a statement the team said “the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have advocated for purposeful change in the areas of race relations, gender equality, diversity and inclusion for many years,” and added “while we acknowledge Jon Gruden’s contributions on the field, his actions go against our core values as an organization. Therefore, he will no longer continue to be a member of the Buccaneers Ring of Honor.”
