Horry County Gaining $2.1 Million After 2020 Census

Horry County has more money coming it’s way thanks to the 2020 census. Horry is one of 11 South Carolina counties that will receive more state funding because of the census. The state’s population grew 10.7% from 2010 to 2020 and counties that grew faster than that rate will receive additional funds through the Local Government Fund. Horry will gain an additional $2.1 million. Other counties getting additional funding include Berkeley, York, Greenville, Charleston, Spartanburg, Lancaster, Dorchester, Beaufort, Lexington and Jasper. The funding for Florence county as well as 34 other counties will be reduced.
