North Myrtle Beach Passes Noise Ordinance
Last night the city of North Myrtle Beach passed an amendment to it’s noise ordinance. The amendment will make it so music with obscene, vulgar or profane lyrics cannot be played above 60 decibels from 11 pm to 7 am and not exceed 80 decibels from 7:01 am to 10:59 pm. Mayor Marilyn Hatley said city officials received several complaints about the noise levels on Main Street as well as about the lyrics being obscene and vulgar. Earlier this year the city passed an ordinance that required all noise that can be heard off property to stop between the hours of 11pm and 7 am. The new amendment adds to that ordinance.
