Perry’s Bait & Tackle to Host Annual Perry’s Benefit
The event takes place this Saturday, October 2nd.
Sharon Doehner with Perry’s Bait & Tackle in Murrells Inlet stopped by the studio to talk about the 4th Annual Perry’s Benefit. Each fall, the shop holds their annual benefit to establish artificial reefs off the Grand Strand coastline. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, October 2nd with a rain date October 9th. This year, they will honor the memory of Ashley LeAnn Walters Avant who was killed by a drunk driver in October of 2019. She left behind three daughters, a grieving husband, devastated parents and many dear friends. The folks at Perry’s aim to begin an education fund for Ashley’s three daughters and establish an artificial reef in her honor. Perry’s Annual Benefit began over 12 years ago after Sharon’s daughter Jessica Perry had a big vision, one that outlasts generations with benefits to help the fishing community. The benefit is family friendly, with face painters, a bouncy house and a photo booth, live music, 50/50 raffles, a silent auction, drawings for a number of gift cards or other items, and a rig-tying expo for the older crowd.
