Top Military Officials Meet With House, Senate Committees

Yesterday, top military officials testified before the senate. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley and Head of U.S. Central Command General Frank McKenzie warned that the war in Afghanistan and the war on terror are far from over, even if there’s no U.S. military presence in the country.

Lawmakers in the Senate armed services committee asked the officials about the drone strike that killed 10 Afghan civilians and how American citizens and Afghans who helped the U.S. during the war got left behind during the evacuation. The U.S. military leaders are being questioned by members of the House Armed Services Committee again today.
