Funeral Arrangements Announced For Fallen Lake City Police Officer

The funeral arrangements for the fallen Lake City Police Officer have been announced. According to the Bacote-Eaddy Funeral Home, the funeral service for Lieutenant John Stewart will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Florence Center located at 3300 West Radio Drive. The funeral home website lists the Florence National Cemetery for his final resting place. Stewart was killed on September 17th following a vehicle pursuit. A memorial fund has been set up for Stewart’s family. The Florence County Sheriff’s Office announced they had arrested Jermaine Roberson for a carjacking and police chase shortly after Stewart was killed following the vehicle pursuit. Roberson is charged with first-degree assault and battery, carjacking, failure to stop for a blue light and kidnapping. SLED is investigating and working to determine if the events are related.
