Police Responded to a Bomb Threat Near CCU This Morning

Police responded to a bomb threat near Coastal Carolina University this morning. CCU sent out an alert to students and faculty around 7:15 a.m. asking them to avoid the area of Founders Drive and Highway 544. Many businesses in that area were closed for a short time while officers were on the scene with some of them ordered to evacuate. Students living at the Pier, Coastal Club, Current, Patriots Hollow, The Wren and off campus housing on 544 were asked to shelter in place. Motorists were also advised to avoid the area.
