Search and Rescue Mission in Connection to Tennessee Flooding Suspended

Search and rescue efforts in connection to flooding in Tennessee have been suspended. According to a statement from the Humphreys County Emergency Management Agency, ‘the recovery of all 20 known flood victims has been made’ and families of the victims are being notified. Search and rescue efforts were suspended but, crews are on standby should someone be reported missing. As of yesterday, 272 homes were destroyed, 168 had major damage and 31 had minor damage.

On Saturday, storms hit Middle Tennessee dropping up to 15 inches of rain over a six-hour period which led to the flash flooding with several communities having to rush to safety in order to avoid rising waters. President Biden had approved a major disaster declaration which will provide financial assistance to those affected by the storms. The National Guard and Tennessee Department of Transportation is expected to begin a massive clean up process today according to the Humphreys County Emergency Management Agency.
