Suspect from North Carolina Arrested After Standoff Near U.S. Capitol

A man was arrested yesterday following an hours-long standoff near the U.S. Capitol. 49 year old Floyd Roseberry of Grover North Carolina is behind bars after claiming he had an explosive device which prompted multiple buildings in the area to be evacuated as authorities responded to the ‘active bomb threat’ investigation. U.S. Capitol Police said that no bomb was found in Roseberry’s truck but he did possess suspected bomb-making material.

According to Chief Tom Manger, Roseberry had been live-streaming from the scene. A half-hour long Facebook video showed him inside his truck, holding a canister that he said was a bomb and speaking about a ‘revolution’. Also in the video, he called himself a ‘patriot’ and said he doesn’t care if Trump ever becomes President again but said he also thinks ‘all Democrats need to step down.’ That video has since been removed from his Facebook profile. On Facebook, Roseberry had frequently made pro-Trump posts and posted videos from Trump’s ‘Million MAGA March’ on November 14th. Manger said authorities couldn’t identify a motive and that so far there is ‘no indication’ he was acting with others.
