Extreme Weather: Tropical Storm Fred to Reach East Coast Friday, Heat Advisories in Most of U.S.
Tropical Storm Fred has became the sixth named storm of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season. This morning as of 5 a.m. the National Hurricane Center said the storm was about 115 miles east/southeast of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. The caribbean is bracing for the storm as it is expected to track west on Wednesday and near the southeastern Bahamas on Thursday. It’s expected to reach south Florida on Friday and could potentially make landfall over the Florida Keys. Meanwhile in other parts of the United States, 133 million people are under heat advisories with the National Weather Services in Portland and New York issuing a warning for temperatures in the upper 90’s and even 100’s for the remainder of the week.
