New Driving Law in South Carolina Begins August 15th
There’s a new driving law in South Carolina. According to the Department of Public Safety, the new law which will begin on August 15th and will require drivers to ‘move right’ except when passing and only use the far left-hand lane on controlled access highways while they are passing or overtaking another vehicle. According to the law, South Carolina Law Enforcement will only issue warnings for the first 90 days after the effective date. The offense is a civil violation punishable by a fine of up to $25 and no court costs may be assessed in addition to the fine. SCDOT will install new signs along roadways alerting drivers of the new law and remind drivers by using it’s overhead message boards.
