Simone Biles is Going for the Gold Again
Biles is back!
USA Gym
nastics has confirmed she will compete in tomorrow’s balance beam final. This will mark her last chance to secure a medal at the Tokyo games and it’s the first event she will participate in since her run on the vault as part of the women’s team final, last Tuesday. After a disappointing dismount at that event, she withdrew from the competition, citing mental health concerns. Biles specifically attributed it to a case of the “twisties”, which is when a gymnast loses perspective of their position while flipping through the air. Biles, who is often considered the best female gymnast in the world, then dropped out of the individual all-around, vault, uneven bars and floor routine. tomorrow, you can also catch Suni Lee as she competes for an individual medal on the a balance beam as well. Yesterday, Lee won bronze on the uneven bars after stepping in for Biles and MyKayla Skinner took silver in the individual competition for vault.
