Bipartisan Group Finalizes Infrastructure Bill Text

Lawmakers have made progress.

Lawmakers have made progress in the long effort to pass an infrastructure bill. Yesterday, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced that the bipartisan group of senators has finalized the legislative text of the infrastructure bill. Now, the senate will begin their amendment process, which could take days since the bill is more than 2,000 pages long. Schumer said “It’s been decades since congress passed such a significant standalone investment and I salute the hard work that was done here by everybody.” 550 billion dollars, which is more than half of the bill will go towards new federal funding to be spent over five years. Billions will also be allocated to rebuilding the electric grid, water infrastructure, transit, fixing bridges and more.
