United States, Canada Border to Reopen on August 6th
The border between the United States and Canada is finally set to reopen on August 9th, after being closed for 16 months. Fully vaccinated citizens and permanent U.S. residents will be allowed into the country. All fully vaccinated Americans and permanent residents must have received both of their vaccines at least 14 days prior to entering and provide proof of their vaccination. Eligible vaccines include Pfizer/Biontech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson. Vaccines from Russia or China will not be recognized. Fully vaccinated travelers will not need a post arrival Covid-19 test unless they have been randomly selected to take one at the border. Non-essential travel into Canada has been banned since March of last year. According to the Canadian Government, international travelers will be allowed to enter Canada beginning September 7th provided the “Covid-19 epidemiology remains favorable.” Entry into Canada will continue to be prohibited for all foreign travelers who are not vaccinated.
