Jeff Bezos and Crew Complete Successful Space Mission
SuBezos, his brother Mark, pilot Wally Funk and 18 year old Oliver Daeman boarded ‘New Shepard’ the suborbital capsule and rocket system built by Bezos’ company Blue Origin in a remote part of Texas at 9 am this morning for an 11 minute mission. The rocket carried the passengers more than 60 miles above Earth. According to Blue Origin, they floated around weightless for three minutes with panoramic views of the planet and space.
Funk made headlines earlier this week when it was revealed that she would be the oldest person to travel to space at the age of 82. Funk is among a group of female pilots known as the ‘Mercury 13’ and was denied the chance to travel to space 60 years ago. Richard Branson beat Bezos by 9 days and became the first person to ride into space aboard a rocket that he helped fund.
