Suspects Accused of Riding and Harassing a Sea Turtle in Garden City

A number of suspects are accused of riding and harassing a sea turtle in Garden City on Monday night. Officers were called to the area of the Garden City Pier for a ‘large group’ who were surrounding the turtle around 10:51 p.m. The group allegedly surrounded her, took pictures of her and even sat on her before leaving the area. A description of those suspects has been obtained and they could face fines of up to thousands of dollars. Good news is the turtle came back later that night and laid 77 eggs becoming the first Green Sea Turtle nest in the area this season.
