Man Arrested for Renting out Illegal Apartment to Foreign Students

A man was arrested yesterday after allegedly building an illegal apartment in his garage and renting it out to three J1 students. 54 year old Romeo Qendro was charged with operating without a business license by the Myrtle Beach Police Department and also received citations from the Myrtle Beach Code Enforcement and the Myrtle Beach Fire Marshal. Police were called to the home in the 800 block of 66th Avenue North after receiving information about a rental apartment in the garage. Qendro did not have proper permits or licenses and the apartment had limited air conditioning and was not acceptable by established standards. The students have been relocated to new housing.
