Judges Rule Handgun Sales Ban Violates Second Amendment Rights

Yesterday, a Federal Appeals Court ruled that Federal Regulators setting a minimum age of 21 years old for purchasing handguns from licensed dealers violates the Second Amendment. The restriction was deemed unconstitutional by a three judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the majority opinion written by Judge Julius Richardson says 18-to-20 year olds have second amendment rights. Richardson was backed by Judge G. Steven Agee. Judge James Wynn Jr. who disagreed said the ruling ‘gives gun lobbyists a win in a battle it lost on Capitol hill decades ago.’
