July’s “Read Carolina” Book Club Picks!

For the month of July we're highlighting some of the hottest adult fiction reads of the summer.

The Read Carolina pick for July goes to “People We Meet on Vacation” by Emily Henry. This romance novel centers around two characters named Poppy and Alex who used to be the best of friends. They traveled somewhere new together every summer up until two years ago when something happened between them that ruined everything. Now Poppy realizes amid her seemingly perfect life that she is not actually happy and hasn’t been since Alex. It gives her the courage to invite him on one last trip and he says yes! But will their time in California fix things between them or irreparably damage their relationship forever?

The honorary mention this month goes to one of the most highly anticipated reads of this summer: “Malibu Rising” by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The Riva siblings were abandoned as kids by their famous father and left to be raised alone by their mother. Years later in 1983, the four of them are now trying to make a name for themselves in the professional surfing world. But the thing they’re most known for is their massive end of the summer house party. The characters grapple with issues of fame, love, career and identity all in one night as the party grows more out of control. By the following morning, the Malibu hillside has erupted in flames and the siblings lives are forever changed.
