Florence Police Investigating After Toddler Sustains Gunshot Wound

Florence police are investigating after being called to a hospital on reports of a toddler with a gunshot wound on Saturday around 8 p.m. Police Captain Mike Brandt said officers learned the incident happened at a residence in the 600 block of Roberts Street. A neighbor said an older child was playing with a gun and shot the toddler. Brandt said evidence indicates that the shooting was an accident. The victim has ‘serious, life-threatening injuries’ but no other information is available at this time.
