House of Representatives Voted to Pass $715 Billion INVEST in America Act.

The House of Representatives voted to pass the $715 billion INVEST in America Act. With the vote of 221-201 and two Republicans voting in favor with the Democrats, the bill will be focused on improving and repairing roads, bridges, transit and rail, and ensuring clean drinking water. Democrats say the ‘INVEST in America Act’ will deliver on key priorities in Biden’s American Jobs Plan and hope the text will be used to negotiate with the Senate and the White House to determine policy proposals that can be included as part of the recently announced infrastructure framework. That framework deal reached between Biden and a bipartisan group of Senators outlines top-line spending numbers for a variety of priorities but many other details remain unclear. The INVEST in America Act authorizes $343 billion for roads, bridges and safety measures, $109 billion for transit, $95 billion for passenger and freight rail, $117 billion for drinking water infrastructure and $51 billion for wastewater infrastructure.
