Bagram Air Base Cleared As Final U.S. Troops Leave Afghanistan

The final U.S. troops have left Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. According to a United States defense official, the full withdrawal of U.S. troops from the country is not complete yet but is expected to be very soon. After the withdrawal, as many as 1,000 U.S. troops could remain in the country to secure the U.S. embassy in Kabul and the cities airport. The withdrawal comes two decades after the first American troops arrived at Bagram and helped take control after the attacks on September 11th. Bagram was officially handed over to the Afghan military today.
