Georgetown County Coroner Identifies Man Found Floating In North Santee River

A person found floating near an overturned boat in the North Santee River in Georgetown County has been identified. Members of the SCDNR dive team recovered the body during a search for a missing boater near Harris Boat Landing after a truck and trailer were found on a concrete ramp near the landing yesterday around 8:30 a.m. The truck’s engine was running and an overturned boat was found floating in the river. According to coroner Chase Ridgeway, the man was identified as 67 year old John Livingston of Georgetown. His body was recovered around 1:30 p.m. after about an hour search. An autopsy will be performed tomorrow to determine the cause of death. No foul play is expected.
