How to Get Out of a Post-Pandemic Funk

Need some help in coming out of a post-pandemic funk?

We’ve got some tips from a scholar in that area, Marelisa Fabrega, author of “Daring to Live Fully”. we could all use more tips on becoming our best selves.

Tip number one, stop being so scared of looking foolish. If there’s something you’ve been wanting to do but afraid of how you may look doing it, let that fear go. Ask yourself, what is one thing I want to do but putting off because I’m scared of looking foolish. Then go do it.

Tip number two, start before you think you’re ready. Don’t wait until you have all your t’s crossed and i’s dotted before you do something. Otherwise that perfect time could pass you by, as most of us never have it all together. For example, if you have been wanting to get certified in something, you don’t have to feel 100-percent ready. Take the course and do the test immediately instead of waiting a month. Get started now before you think you are ready!

Tip number three, constantly push against your comfort zone. Always be pushing against what’s comfortable in order to be more flexible. Do things like the following. Twice a month, try a new restaurant, explore a different part of your town or take a day trip to nearby city you’ve never been to. Four times a year, try a new sport, one for each season. By doing these things, when the time comes to try something new you’ll have an easier time doing it. You’ll be more flexible like a well-worn pair of jeans.

Tip four, examine the rules you have made for yourself. Some may need to be broken. To do this, ask yourself questions like: is it essential that I do things in this order? What if I were to do the opposite of what everyone else is doing? Sometimes we can be holding ourselves back by being stuck in doing things a certain way because, well, that’s just how it’s always been done. Be bold, look outside the box and give yourself permission to examine your old ways and routines.
