Rudy Giuliani Suspended From Practicing Law in New York
Rudy Giuliani has been suspended from practicing law in New York. The former personal lawyer for former president Trump was suspended yesterday from practicing law in New York state by an appellate court that found he made ‘false and misleading statements’ about the 2020 election. In a ruling the court concluded that “there is uncontroverted evidence” that Guliani “communicated false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers and the public at large in his capacity as lawyer for former president Trump and the Trump campaign in connection with his failed effort at reelection in 2020.”
Giuliani said the he was “not very happy” with the court’s decision and argued that his comments were not a threat to the public. He said “I made all those statements — not a single one of them led to a protest, a riot, an incident, an anything,” and added “obviously, those statements do not have the impact of creating danger.” Giuliani’s lawyers also issued a statement and said they were disappointed in the decision. Guliani had been scheduled to appear in court yesterday afternoon for proceedings in a defamation lawsuit from the vote management company Dominion Voting Systems, he did not attend that hearing.
