Vice President Kamala Harris To Visit U.S. Mexico Border
Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to make her first trip to the United States Mexico border tomorrow. During her upcoming trip to El Paso Texas she will be touring the U.S. southern border for the first time since taking office. She will be accompanied by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Harris is leading the Biden administration’s efforts to stem the flow of migration from Central America through Mexico. Earlier this month, she visited Mexico and Guatemala.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that the “planning and timing” was done in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security. This spring the U.S. saw a surge of border crossings. Customs and border protection agents encountered more than 180 thousand migrants in May, including a record number of unaccompanied children.
