Biden Meets With Senators Sinema, Manchin Ahead Of Today’s Talks On Capitol Hill

Yesterday President Biden met with two democratic lawmakers ahead of today’s capitol hill talks regarding his infrastructure package. According to a White House official, Biden spoke with both Arizona Senator Krysten Sinema and West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin in separate meetings. The two Senators are playing crucial roles in the President’s efforts to move his $4 trillion economic agenda forward. Both Sinema and Manchin have insisted that Democrats go after a bipartisan track and are part of a group of 21 Republicans and Democrats currently in talks with Biden over a plan that includes $579 billion in new spending. In a statement, Sinema said “The President thanked each Senator for their engagement toward making historic investments in economic growth, middle class jobs, and the clean energy economy, and told them he was encouraged by what has taken shape but that he still has questions about the policy as well as the means for financing the bipartisan group’s proposal.”
